Empirical Analysis on Issues toward the Sustainability of Security of the People and Related System after 2025 in Japan

Economic and Social Research Institute
Cabinet Office, Government of Japan

1.Research Issues

It is assumed that the social security system and public finances will be most severely constrained in the 10 to 15 years from 2025 in Japan, when the baby boom generation will turn 75 or older. With this difficult period in mind, we conducted research on the reconstruction of a sustainable system and relationship between the system and the market. The research was based on the following two perspectives; "the sustainability of Security of the People and Related System after 2025"(WG1) and "the nature of the relationship between the system and the market in a super-aged society"(WG2).
