Explanation of Machinery Orders
Results
- The total value of machinery orders received by 280 manufacturers operating in Japan increased by 3.6% in March from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis. In January-March period it rose by 9.0% compared with the previous quarter. 
 Private-sector machinery orders, excluding volatile ones for ships and those from electric power companies, increased a seasonally adjusted by 5.4% in March, and showed rise by 2.9% in January-March period.
- In the April-June period the total amount of machinery orders was forecasted to decrease by 4.7% and private-sector orders, excluding volatile ones, were forecasted to increase by 1.6% from the previous quarter respectively. This forecast was basically made by summing up the figures from 280 machinery manufacturers. 
- In 2009 Fisical Year the total amount of machinery orders fell by 18.8%. Also private-sector orders, excluding volatile ones, decreased by 20.6%.
